The company was established in 1951 as a state shipbuilding enterprise by the Chinese Government. In 1994 a joint venture agreement with Damen Shipyards Group was signed and in 2002 it became a stand-alone enterprise. DAMEN Changde mainly builds tugs, workboats, high-speed vessels and dredgers for the export market worldwide.
